Welcome to VoicePin ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application VoicePin (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using VoicePin, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide

When you register and use VoicePin, we collect:

• Account Information: Username, email address, and password (encrypted)
• Profile Information: Profile picture, bio, and other optional profile details
• Audio Content: Voice recordings you create and upload as "pins"
• Pin Metadata: Descriptions, titles, and tags you add to your pins

Location Information

VoicePin is a location-based service. We collect:

• Precise Location Data: GPS coordinates when you create a pin or enable GPS Auto-Trigger
• Location History: When you use GPS Auto-Trigger, we track your location to trigger nearby pins
• Pin Locations: The geographic coordinates where you place audio pins

How We Use Location Data:

• To associate your audio pins with specific geographic locations
• To show you nearby pins created by others
• To automatically play pins when you enter trigger zones (if you enable GPS Auto-Trigger)
• To display pins on the interactive map

Location Data Control: You can disable location services in your device settings or disable GPS Auto-Trigger in the app. However, core features of VoicePin require location access to function.

User-Generated Content

We collect and store:

• Audio Recordings: Voice pins you create
• Comments: Comments you post on pins
• Likes and Interactions: Records of pins you've liked or interacted with
• Social Connections: Your followers and users you follow

Automatically Collected Information

When you use VoicePin, we automatically collect:

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: App features used, time spent in app, pins played
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, crash logs, performance data

Audio Recordings

Audio recordings you create are:

• Stored on our secure servers (DigitalOcean)
• Associated with your account and the location where you created them
• Made public or private based on your privacy settings
• Retained until you delete them or delete your account

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide Services: Enable you to create, discover, and play location-based audio pins
• GPS Features: Trigger automatic playback of nearby pins when you enable this feature
• Social Features: Show your pins to other users, enable following, likes, and comments
• Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs
• Communication: Send you notifications about app activity, updates, and important changes
• Safety & Security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
• Legal Compliance: Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for processing your personal data includes:

• Consent: You consent to us collecting and using your location data when you enable GPS features
• Contract: Processing is necessary to provide the services you've requested
• Legitimate Interests: We have a legitimate interest in improving our services and preventing fraud

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:

With Other Users

• Public Pins: Pins you create are visible to other users (unless marked private)
• Profile Information: Your username, profile picture, and bio are public
• Social Activity: Your followers can see your public pins and activity

With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third parties who help us operate VoicePin:

• Hosting Services: DigitalOcean (server hosting and audio file storage)
• Map Services: Google Maps API (for displaying map interfaces)
• Analytics Providers: If we add crash reporting or analytics in the future

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for providing services to us.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to:

• Court orders, subpoenas, or legal processes
• Requests from government authorities
• Protection of our rights, property, or safety
• Prevention of fraud, abuse, or illegal activity

Business Transfers

If VoicePin is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owner.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide services:

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
• Audio Pins: Retained until you delete them or delete your account
• Usage Logs: Retained for up to 90 days for performance monitoring
• Deleted Data: Permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of deletion

Note for Premium Users (if applicable): Premium user pins are stored indefinitely unless you delete them.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

All Users

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Update or correct your account information in the app
• Deletion: Delete your account and associated data (see "Account Deletion" below)
• Export: Request an export of your data in a portable format

GDPR Rights (EEA Users)

• Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data
• Right to Restrict: Request restriction of processing
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for location tracking (note: this may limit app functionality)

• Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information, so no opt-out is necessary

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights:

We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app:

1. Go to Profile → Settings

2. Tap "Delete Account"

3. Confirm deletion

Alternative: Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion via email, you can submit a deletion request to: privacy@bitejee.app

Please include your username and registered email address in your request. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

What Gets Deleted:

• Your account information (username, email, password)
• All audio pins you created
• Your profile picture and bio
• Your likes, comments, and social connections
• Your location history

Deletion Timeline: Data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Note: Pins you created may remain in the queue or cache of other users briefly, but will no longer be discoverable after deletion.

Children's Privacy

VoicePin is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use VoicePin.

Data Security

We take security seriously and implement reasonable measures to protect your data:

• Encryption: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard encryption
• Secure Transmission: Data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
• Access Controls: Limited access to personal data by authorized personnel only
• Regular Monitoring: We monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

VoicePin's servers are located in [Server Location - Update based on DigitalOcean region]. If you access VoicePin from outside this region, your data may be transferred internationally.

For EEA users: We ensure adequate safeguards are in place for international transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where applicable.

Third-Party Services

VoicePin integrates with third-party services:

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. Please review their privacy policies.

Content Moderation

To maintain a safe community, we may:

• Review reported pins for violations of our Terms of Service
• Use automated systems to detect prohibited content
• Remove content that violates our Community Guidelines
• Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate policies

When you report a pin, we collect information about the report (your user ID, reason, details) to investigate.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Material Changes: If we make significant changes, we will notify you via:

• Email (if you provided one)

Continued use of VoicePin after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Cookies and Tracking

California residents have additional rights under CCPA:

• We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• You have the right to know what information we collect and how we use it (see above)

Consent

By using VoicePin, you consent to:

• Collection and processing of your location data for app functionality
• Storage of your audio recordings on our servers
• Sharing of your public pins with other users

You can withdraw consent for location tracking at any time, but core app features will be limited.
